Dozens of people have been injured in a stampede following New Year’s Eve celebrations in the Qatari capital, Doha, as reported by RT.

The incident reportedly occurred at a subway station in the Doha suburb of Lusail, after the fireworks display and an open-air concert with live DJs. According to media reports, people were injured in a stampede as they rushed to the station near Lusail Boulevard to catch the last trains before the subway closed for the night.

Emergency medical teams were reportedly called to the site. Videos posted on X purportedly show doctors treating the injured in the subway station following the stampede.

The local authorities have not yet commented on the incident. There is no exact information on the number of injuries.

What is it that Qataris celebrate with fireworks and cheers of joy? Genocide? Dogs eating murdered mothers, fathers, sons, and daughters? Babies freezing to death? What is it exactly that Qataris are celebrating? Are they not too outraged and broken to celebrate? What does such a celebration during these times tell us about the Qatari society?
